EQUIPMENT

I have always been a big fan of the Roland Sound Canvas since day one. I find it very
practical to use, reasonably priced and the sounds are about as real as you can get
from any midi sound module. I originally started with the SC-55 and have now upgraded
to the new SC-88 Pro.
If a straight forward midi file is required I just use the SC-88 Pro, but if the client
requires back-tracks then I use the Alessis D4 drum module for the drums. The D4
has 4 outputs which enables me to get a good overall kit sound by separating the kick,
snare, toms and hi-hats / cymbals. At the same time I use one of the extra outputs
on the Sound Canvas to route the bass into it`s own channel on the mixer.

SOFTWARE

As far as I am concerned there is only one midi-sequencing software package to look at
and that is CAKEWALK.
I have been a CAKEWALK user since the early dos days, and although I have all the
upgrades up to PRO AUDIO 7.00, I still use WINCAKE ver 3.00 for most of my midi
sequencing.
On the audio side I am using SOUND FORGE & SAW PLUS.

FREE MIDI FILES

I have quite a list of midi files that I have programmed, collected, recieved & traded
over the years. I have put the list up here so you can download it. If you e-mail me
marking your mail MIDI FILE LIST, I will forward any midi files that you require from
the list (within reasonable sizes). Also, I will post the list at regular intervals to the
"alt.binaries.sounds.midi" newsgroup so you can download it from there.
